“Switzerland loses far more great ideas to other countries than we get from abroad,” said Sunnie Groeneveld, Managing Director of DigitalZurich2025, at the first roundtable event of the Kickstart Accelerator at the Impact Hub Zurich on December 9, 2015. However this situation is set to change.

Kickstart is a Kick Foundation initiative in cooperation with DigitalZurich2025. The summer program is set to take place from July to September 2016 and will provide participating teams with financial support and mentoring. It will also help them establish long-term collaborations with leading Swiss companies by engaging them in pilot projects.

“We aim to be the gateway for foreign startups in Switzerland. We want to open doors and opportunities for them, whether they want access to investors, mentors, our excellent academic centers, funding or corporate venturing”, said Sunnie Groeneveld. “Switzerland is not yet on the map as an international startup hub, despite offering many opportunities beyond its world-class universities and leading industries. We want to change that.”

The final details of how the accelerator will look and operate and what vertical sectors it will cover have not yet been revealed. However, at the roundtable discussions during the event, industries such as Fintech, IoT, Smart Machines and Robotics were particularly hotly debated.
