The CAS in “Big Data and Machine Learning” at the University of Zurich presents current methods for the compilation, processing and analysis of large volumes of data. This multidisciplinary course gives an overview of the most important innovations in Deep Learning for text and image data. The lecturers will introduce the most recent developments of artificial intelligence in key application areas and illustrate the ensuing ethical and legal issues.

The participants will get acquainted with the inner working of machine learning systems through illustrative examples and practical exercises. Background reading and course projects will enable them to develop skills for the implementation of the latest methods in their professional context.

Target audience: Computer scientists and specialists in information technologies who are interested in life-long learning and who want to advance in their professional careers by learning about the latest research results and methodologies.

Course duration: February to June 2018.
