Switzerland will host the next Global Summit on AI in Geneva in 2027. This was announced by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, today in New Delhi at the AI Impact Summit in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This decision strengthens Switzerland’s position to actively contribute to advancing the global dialogue on AI.
The Summit will be a chance to emphasise Switzerland’s offering as a modern digital host state and a premier location for trustworthy AI and strengthens the standing of International Geneva. Public institutions and private organizations will have the chance to engage in global dialogue on AI.

Road to the Geneva 2027 AI SummitÂ
digitalswitzerland, as the umbrella organization for digitalisation in Switzerland, coordinates the work on an AI Action Plan for Switzerland among public, scientific and business actors. The strategic initiative, encouraged by Federal Councillor Albert Rösti at the digitalswitzerland Forum in November 2025 is set to be the central contribution to the Summit from a Swiss perspective. It will propose pivotal measures for Switzerland to accelerate the responsible adoption of AI into the Swiss society and economy.
The AI Action Plan for Switzerland is currently being drafted up in a continuous public participatory stakeholder process built upon a series of strategic events taking place throughout 2026. The Digital Summit in May 2026 as well as the digitalswitzerland forum in September 2026 will serve as major pre-events of the Summit that focus on delivering on first actions and discussing further measures for the AI Action Plan.Â
The AI Action Plan for Switzerland will act as one of the main platforms to host and align collaborative efforts of the Swiss AI Ecosystem. It will therefore be an instrumental tool in shaping an impactful agenda for the Global Summit on AI in Geneva in 2027, positioning Switzerland as a trustworthy hub for AI investments and AI Innovation.Â
